Cloth Diapering: Say What?

I am not sure really where I am going with this new topic series but I wanted to give it a try. I always have people ask me about the cloth diapers I use for Vivian. So, I figured blogging about my experiences with them could help some people and answer some questions regarding myths and facts.

The diapers I use are all purchased from Cotton Babies. Of course, there are a bunch of other sites to purchase from, but this is my favorite by far and where I purchase everything. The a cotton babies website has a great section with information for first timers and a listing of all of the possible kinds of cloth diapers here. Check it out if you are interested in learning more.

I use BumGenius brand. Of course, there are other brands as well, but I like BumGenius One-Size Stay-Dry with SNAPS. The velcro is okay but I prefer the snaps as it gives me more control over how the diaper fits around the legs and waste. And with a fat legged baby this is essential.

That's it for now. Stay tuned for the next edition to see a video showing everything I use and how it all works.

For now, enjoy this picture of Vivian in her "jet setter" print diaper.

  1. Awesome, Robin! We're planning on CD'ing our baby girl (arriving June/July!) So far, I have 2 dipers...still trying to build my stash! =) Let me pick your brain-- What detergent do you use for yours? Do you keep the dirties in a trashcan w/ liner or a wet/dry bag? Have you ever used a diaper sprayer? Thanks! ;-)

  2. Congratulations, April! I use the Bum genius diaper detergent but you can use any Free and Clear detergent (7th Generation is good). I use the diaper pail with a wet bag liner. The deo disk works great to contain the smell. I wash my diapes everyday vs. every other. Also, make sure you wash them on HOT water like they say. I use the sanitize cycle...it gets rid of the smell instantly.
